Hoboken to hold community meeting for movie theater parking

HOBOKEN–Acting Mayor Dawn Zimmer announced Thursday a community meeting regarding the city’s proposal to place parking meters on five uptown blocks to accommodate patrons of the new movie theater, which will open this weekend.
The council tabled the proposal on Wednesday night as critics claimed the city should have required on-site parking from the property owners, URSA Development Group.
The measure would convert roughly 75 public parking spots from resident and business parking, to metered parking between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. (4 hour max).
Today, Zimmer and 5th Ward Councilman Peter Cunningham announced a community meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the 1200 Grand Community Room to discuss the parking concerns. Hoboken Transportation and Parking Utility Director Ian Sacs will be on hand to discuss the administration’s proposal and solicit feedback from the surrounding community on the plan.
