The Hudson Diversity Council is arranging a protest against a Kansas-based church that hates homosexuals, Jews, Catholics, and homosexual “enablers”. (See our prior breaking news from this morning for more.)
The group sent out this release:
I was saddened yesterday to learn that the face of intolerance is headed to Hudson County. A contingent from Westboro Baptist Church will be travelling to New Jersey next week for a round of protests related to our state’s ongoing battle to weed out corrupt officials.
I WAS SICKENED when I read their website and saw the rest.
Below is the headline from a press release on their website announcing their planned event at Dickinson High School in Jersey City:
“WBC WILL PICKET THESE F*G-INFESTED, PERVERT-RUN NEW JERSEY HIGH SCHOOLS”
This group is the far extreme of the lunatic fringe who have picketed soldiers’ funerals touting the deaths of our nation’s heroes as “God’s vengeance for America’s tolerance of homosexuality.”
In most cases, I would not advocate validating their vitriol; however, this attack is aimed at our children and we MUST STAND UP!!
We must stand up in the face of hatred!
We must stand up in the face of lies!
We must stand up for the next generation!
And stand we will!!
Hudson Diversity Action Council, in conjunction with LGBT groups, allies, and businesses across Hudson County, is organizing a counter-action. We need EVERY AVAILABLE PERSON to join us to peacefully surround their demonstration with a positive message of tolerance and equality.

How can you help?
The MOST IMPORTANT thing we need is people! We need to outnumber them by such staggering proportions their message of hate will literally be drowned out by our peaceful message of tolerance and equality. Please help us get the word out far and wide by sending this message you your email lists, posting to your FaceBook page, calling your friends, etc.
Make signs – we will be carrying signs with the message above the day of the demonstration. If you are artistic, or you have crayons and construction paper and are willing to help us make signs, please bring them to the Pride Connections Center between 11AM and 7PM any week day between now and next Tuesday.
