The Jersey City Mayor’s Tax Enhancement Commitee meeting will be open to the public this coming Friday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. in the City Council Caucus Room in City Hall, 280 Grove Street in Jersey City.
The tax enhancement committee is responsible for studying abatement applications before they are voted upon by the City Council. The meetings have been behind closed doors until a resolution introduced by City Councilman Steven Fulop at the July 29 council meeting was passed allowing for the members of the public to attend the meetings as a matter of “transparency” in light of the July 23 public corruption/money laundering arrests.
On the agenda for Friday’s meeting are amended abatement applications for the Newport Office Center VI on Washington Boulevard and the Summit Plaza apartment building on Newark Avenue. – RK
