14-screen theater now open

ShowPlace 14, a new movie theater, had its opening day in Secaucus this past Friday, Oct. 16. The Kerasotes Showplace replaces two smaller Loews AMC theaters previously located at the Harmon Meadow mall on Route 3.
The new state-of-the-art theater is the final piece in the redevelopment of the Harmon Meadow retail development. Also featured at the mall are Toys “R” Us, Kohl’s, and Marshalls.

Fourteen screens

Stadium seating and digital projection screens are available in all of the ShowPlace auditoriums, and RealD 3D technology has been included in four of them.
“Zombieland,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in 3D,” and “Law Abiding Citizen” are among the films that are scheduled to be onscreen this weekend.

“Throughout history, people have consistently turned to the movies as an escape during times of economic hardship,” said Secaucus Mayor Richard Steffens. “Not only is Kerasotes going to be good for business in Harmon Meadow, it’s going to be a much-needed diversion in these challenging times — and I expect a popular pastime as the economy grows stronger.”
Customers will be able to purchase and print ShowPlace tickets online through Fandango.com. Kerasotes will offer free refills on all popcorn and drink sizes at ShowPlace, and it will offer its Five Buck Club, where customers can buy $5 tickets to select movies.
The theater also includes a party room that can be rented for birthdays, meetings, or other celebrations.
“With the addition of this theater, Harmon Meadow becomes the prime destination for the area,” said Hartz Mountain President and CEO Emanuel Stern in a statement Wednesday. Hartz owns and manages the Harmon Meadow property where ShowPlace is located. “It offers an unbeatable combination of amenities – entertainment, restaurants to suit any taste, shopping and free parking. Kerasotes is truly a showplace where you can enjoy the latest films in a luxurious setting that’s second to none.”
Jim Kirkos, CEO of the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce, said the theater “is a perfect example of the many investment opportunities within the Meadowlands region. The opening of the Kerasotes ShowPlace Theatre is a spectacular addition to the already premier Harmon Meadow development, enhancing this region as a great destination for visitors that come from all over the world.”
Kerasotes is the sixth largest motion picture exhibitor in the United States. Based in Chicago, Kerasotes operates 94 theaters in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Colorado, Wisconsin, California, and New Jersey.
