Thank you HUMC!

Dear Editor,

On the morning of Thursday, September 10, 2009, my wife Anna gave birth to a baby boy, Axel Francis, at the excellent Hoboken University Medical Center. From the moment we entered the hospital that morning until Anna and Axel were discharged that Sunday, we remained in the most thoughtful and professional care one could hope for during this wonderful and anxious moment of our lives. Both pre- and post-partum staff were always available, conducted all necessary preparations and treatments courteously and tenderly, and made us feel confident we were receiving the absolute best care possible. The recently renovated emergency wing of HUMC is an appropriate symbolism to the kind of modern, human-oriented philosophy we were fortunate to encounter there. We thoroughly enjoyed the birthing class taught weeks earlier by Sylvia; she brought a comforting and sincere atmosphere to a crash course in preparing for a new baby. Robyn provided fantastic instruction both at the breast-feeding class weeks earlier as well as during Axel’s first hours and days of life. Her team took great care to get Anna and Axel to learn the right and best technique from the get go, something we really appreciate now! And the entire mother and baby teams who were constantly checking in with us and responding to calls and questions while we were in the hospital were thorough and always available. We were understandably very preoccupied with being new parents, so it is difficult for us to mention everyone’s name here, but stellar examples of the hospital’s great staff are Luz, Quinesha, Tara, Linda, and Florine. And of course special thanks are due to Dr. Neal Gressock. The food was refreshingly enjoyable, and the room was comfortable, well equipped, and spotless. All in all, the entire experience was perfect and we are very thankful to the amazing staff at HUMC. For those wondering if HUMC is up to snuff for their birthing and maternal care, rest assured you will find nothing but the best here! We are very proud of our local hospital! Thank you HUMC!

Sincerely, Ian Sacs and Anna Porvari
