Key Plays: : The 2009 Co-ed Softball League Championship team, Big Apple Bruisers, struggled during the regular season, finishing 6th out of 17 teams, with a record of 12-5. However, the Bruisers became both mentally and physically prepared going into the playoffs. The Bruisers defeated Smokies, Herberts Navy and Army, and the Underdawgs in the post season before taking on the Wicked Riders in the championship game. Wicked Riders were the undefeated regular season champs and Bruisers needed to defeat them twice in order to take the title. Bruiser played strong defensively in game 1, winning 8-2. In game 2, Bruisers continued to play strong and smart, and put up runs throughout the game. They won 13-8 over the Wicked Riders in a thrilling game 2. In the 5 postseason games the Bruisers played, they combined for a total of 76 runs, while only allowing 24.
