Dignitaries open waterfront walkway

A portion of the waterfront walkway from the Hoboken train station area to Jersey City’s Newport section was the site of a kickoff today at 2:30. Dignitaries including Gov. Jon Corzine, who lives in Hoboken, were invited to the grand opening of this portion of the walkway.
There was some controversy, as the walkway closes at 9 p.m., and some activists say that it should be open for 24 hours because it’s a public walkway.
NJ Transit said they planned to address those concerns at the press conference.
The story was written about in this weekend’s Hoboken Reporter. Return to our homepage at www.hudsonreporter.com to read it under “More Hoboken news.”
