The Times exults over Union City High’s new rooftop football field

As reported in our paper two weeks ago, the two old Union City high schools have combined this year into a new one that opened Sept. 3 on Kennedy Blvd.
Today, the New York Times has an article about the rooftop football field at the new school, with its Manhattan views. Quite a step up from the old days, when players had to walk 12 blocks to their field.
The story notes: “So when this densely populated city with few open spaces combined its two schools, renamed them Union City High School, and moved them into a new $180 million building on Sept. 3, the centerpiece, naturally, was a rooftop stadium with skyline views of the Empire State Building and Midtown Manhattan. These days, the football players simply head upstairs.”
