A funeral mass was celebrated Aug. 26 at St. Joseph’s Church for Helen M. Mahler, 83, of Westfield, formerly of Jersey City. She passed away Aug. 22. Mrs. Mahler was born in Bayonne and resided most of her life in Jersey City before moving to Westfield several years ago. She was employed as a secretary and receptionist for St. Joseph’s School and Home for the Blind in Jersey City, retiring 10 years ago, and was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church. Mrs. Mahler is survived by her husband Howard F. Mahler and her children, Cecelia Shaw, Kenneth, Martin, Timothy, Lawrence, Christopher, Ellen Greaves and Stephen. She is predeceased by her daughter, the late Theresa Mahler-Jones, sisters, Ruth, Evelyn and Anna and brother James. Mrs. Mahler was the grandmother of 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
