Local firefighters respond to fire in the Galaxy

Actually, it’s more specific than that. According to North Hudson Fire and Rescue Chief Brion McEldowney, a call was received at 2:12 a.m. this morning for a fire that had started in the Galaxy Mall, located at 7000 J.F.K. Boulevard East.
The one-alarm fire broke out in a pharmacy/liquor store. The buildings automatic sprinkler system extinguished the fire, said McEldowney.
He said that the building was currently under renovation and that smoke and water damage was limited to the store, which was unoccupied at the time.
There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Guttenberg fire offical’s office. — Tricia Tirella
