AJ “Candy Man” Candelerio threw a no hitter in a Bayonne Cal Ripken game. The Chris’ Corner team pulled off a huge upset with an 8-0 win over second place team Pizza Masters. Candelerio struck out nine and walked one as his team moved a step closer to another potential championship run. The 11-year-old also hit a three-run homer to help his team.
League vice president Mike Miselis said in praise, “You could be looking at one of the all time best pitchers to ever play in our league. The kid throws gas and of late has mastered a great changeup. He has the ability to be an all time great player if he continues to work hard and stays on the same path that he is on right now.”
