Funeral services took place Aug. 15 for Bruce Edward Wilson, 59, a retired North Hudson Regional Fire Department Battalion Chief. He passed away Aug. 11 after complications from a heart attack. Bruce was a Vietnam Vet serving in the Navy on the USS Mulinex and the USS Guam. After serving in the war, he worked at Sier Bath, in North Bergen, before joining the Fire Department in West New York. Bruce, who was as generous in death as he was in life, gave the gift of life to others by donating his organs. He will be deeply missed and thought of with joy and laughter by all who knew and loved him. Bruce, the beloved son of Edward and Dorothy Wilson, of Naples, Fla., formerly of West New York, was born in Jersey City. He leaves behind his daughters, Jennifer Marie Wilson and her fiance Bryan Sanders of San Diego, Calif., and Nicole Elizabeth Wilson Brunner and her husband Matthew of Citrus Springs, Fla. Also feeling his loss are his step-daughters, PFC Susan Jernstedt, of Afghanistan, Allison Rose Monahan Griffith and her daughter Madison Rose Stretz. Bruce leaves behind five sisters and brothers: Maureen Mirabilio and her husband Robert of Sparta, Gary Wilson and his wife Joan of Jersey City, Kevin Wilson and his wife Ellen of Acworth, Ga., Barbara Laetzo and her husband Glenn of Chester, N.Y., and Kathleen Smith and her husband Kevin of Naples, Fla. He is also survived by and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Services arranged by the Vainieri Funeral Home, North Bergen.
