Dear Editor:
Over the last few weeks I have read a number of articles selling the benefits of Mayor Zimmer running unopposed in the upcoming November Mayoral Election. Potential opposition to Dawn Zimmer was characterized as an expression of “ego”, while a call for “unity” has eloquently pitched as the best medicine for the City of Hoboken during this “key moment in time.” To any informed citizen this is clearly a political strategy designed to demonize future opposition candidates as narcissistic and small minded. I think this is very un-democratic behavior and only speaks to the real fear Zimmer supporters feel about her re-election prospects. If Mayor Zimmer is the best person for the job then let her prove it in November by beating any candidate that thinks they can do better.
