Neil Carroll Sr., a former Hudson County freeholder and Bayonne resident, has been appointed to the Board of Education of the Hudson County Schools of Technology. The nine-member board is responsible for staffing and funding decisions, among other responsibilities, for the school district.
“It feels wonderful to be able to continue giving back to the community by serving on the board,” said Carroll. “I have been involved in public service for most of my life, and I look forward to contributing to the extraordinary level of public education that takes place at the schools in the HCST.”
During his career, Carroll served as chief of staff to four United States representatives. In 1990 he was named by then-Gov. Jim Florio as chairman and executive director of the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Carroll also worked as chief of staff to the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and served in the Navy in World War II and the Korean War. He has been married to his wife Mary Carroll for 60 years, and has seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was born in Bayonne and has lived there for his entire life.
