Be informed and knowledgeable voters

To the Editor:
As the exposure of the abuses of the public trust seem to be a daily headlines, we might be inclined to let these events dictate our future. However, this point in time provides us with a great opportunity that we must seize. We should not allow those who violated the sacred public trust distract us from this opportunity. We must look forward and not allow the current political environment to further disenfranchise us. As it was best put by George Nathan: “Bad officials are elected by good citizens who don’t vote.”
This November, we will be electing what is said to be one of the most powerful governors in the country. Three viable candidates have emerged, and it is incumbent on all of us to go to the polls in November as informed and knowledgeable voters.
Before the scandals hit, the Bayonne Community Action League had been talking to the different gubernatorial campaigns, requesting time to speak openly and honestly to the candidates about the issues that affect us all – particularly issues that Bayonne citizens approached us with. As of this writing, we have completed one of the interviews – which is posted on our Web site – and plan on meeting with the other candidates in the upcoming weeks.
What we ask from the public is to continue sending us your questions for the candidates. You can email us at tbcal@me.com, leave us a note on our Web site – http://tbcal.com —
or you can mail us at P.O. Box 1639 Bayonne, NJ, 07002.
