Keeping prices from flying too high

Barna said on the average drivers charge for the trip from Jersey City to Newark Airport anywhere from $25 to $35.
That is an accurate assessment as confirmed by the Jersey City Reporter who made calls to five different taxi companies about a trip to Newark Airport.
As a matter of comparison, New York City taxi set rules for taxi trips from Manhattan to Kennedy Airport, which is a flat rate of $45 plus tolls.
Local resident Telisa Dowling takes trips on a semi-regular basis to places such as Washington and Chicago due to affordable housing advocacy work, usually leaving from Newark Airport.
She says Jersey City taxi drivers have charged her reasonable rates for her past trips to Newark Airport but she thinks there should be a set fee.
“There a lot of people who have low incomes and find it easier to take a cab than taking public transportation to the airport,” Dowling said.
She also thinks there should be a shuttle service from Jersey City to Newark Airport just as there is from the Port Authority Bus Terminal to Kennedy Airport, which costs $13.
