National Night Out was dedicated to the memory of Detective Marc DiNardo

Dear Editor:
On Tuesday, August 4, 2009 Jersey City again, for the 26th year conducted throughout the city the National Night Out Against Crime and this year honored the memory of fallen Detective Marc DiNardo and rightfully recognized Jersey City Police Officer Miguel Camacho, Frank Molina, Jr. and Marc Lavelle in regards to the horrific circumstance on Reed Street in our city.
I also must note that Councilman Steven Fulop, again in this method of grandstanding for the public completely ignored the purpose of the National Night Out Against Crime and advanced his own political agenda. For twenty six years the National Night Out Against Crime is to assist in bringing to light to all residents but especially the young, the strong desire to respect all areas of law enforcement and the programs are designed to get the message across in a manner that will attract the interest of the young. These programs carried out the mission through Jersey City and the “dog and pony show” as run by Fulop did not succeed in detracting from the meaning of the Night Out. Mr. Fulop you should have joined hundreds and hundreds of city residents at the PACO location and throughout the city in the participation of the true meaning of the events.
We are thankful for the Night Out and especially the dedication of the event to the memory of Detective Marc DiNardo and in honoring the three other officers who along with all law enforcement who place their lives on the line for us the residents on a daily basis.
Sincerely,
Michael Giacomazzo
