Dear Editor:
I would like you to know about people in Secaucus. My sons & I bought, all together, 4 blocks in Secaucus. Two on Center Ave, one dedicated to my mother & father, one for my husband’s mother & father, one on First Street for my grandmother & uncle. After you “buy” a block, the town puts up a sign on a pole commemorating someone. My sons put one up on 8th Street for their father, my husband. Someone stole the one on Centre Ave for my mother & father. A couple days after it was put up I called Mike Gonnelli. It took him only 3 days to have it replaced. Now the sign my children paid for has been removed, it was there Christmas, I was ill so I did not get a chance to check it out. Saturday my son took me to the grave site & we stopped to see the sign & the pole it was on is gone. I called Mike on Saturday at his home. He called me right back stating he was going to call someone in charge of this. They were going to get in touch with me. As of yet, 4 days gone & I have not heard from anyone.
The reason I am writing you, is those signs & poles cost $500.00 dollars each. Now who ever stole them & took them down stole 500.00 hundred dollars worth of merchandise. My husband lived in the house my sons put the signs up in front of. Now new people built a new house somehow our sign is gone. It was not on their property, they may have to maintain it, but they do not own it. So whoever took the sign down – had no right.
Thank you,
Madeline T. Geier
