All last week, news vans in Hoboken were camped in front of City Hall as new Mayor Peter Cammarano, who was recently arrested in an FBI corruption investigation, finally resigned. But yesterday morning, the only cameras were across the street, inside Carlo’s Bakery, where the star of the hit TLC reality show “Cake Boss” was filming another episode.
How can so much drama fit into one block in a mile-square city?!
We asked the cake boss, Buddy Valestro, about the mayor’s scandal. Recently, Valestro made a cake for the mayor’s inauguration day, July 1. Three weeks later, Cammarano was arrested.
The cake, Valestro said, was a gesture to a new mayor, not an endorsement.
“I always stay politically neutral,” he said.
