A memorial service was held July 25 for James Edward Cole, 63. He passed away July 19 after battling illness with his usual charm and good humor. He was husband to Kathy Cole; Uncle Jim to seven nieces and nephews and “Great” Uncle Jim to seven great nieces and nephews. He was a mentor, counselor and friend to many. Jim was a familiar face and persistent force for positive change in the community as the “mayor” of East Street and an active member of Jimmy King’s community group. Jim’s legacy is one of love, generosity, kindness and laughter. He has touched many lives and gave so much of his time, energy and compassion to help others. Jim was a gift to his family and friends, a great man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Cremation was held privately. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
