Summer used to be so quiet. The print editions of your Reporter newspapers this weekend will have updates on the political scandal as it has affected almost every town. There’s more than you may not know, including the various ways the Hoboken City Council can still vote on an interim mayor (if they want to change Dawn Zimmer’s status), a major Guttenberg connection, background on Dennis Elwell, the recently resigned mayor of Secaucus, and more on the 16 arrested officials in Jersey City.
Of course, that’s not all that’s going on in these parts…
In Weehawken, did you know that that old, thin VFW Lodge on Park Avenue used to be Town Hall? Officials are working to restore it…and at the same time the nearby Park Avenue Hotel, site of a murder three years ago, will be demolished to make room for senior housing.
In Secaucus, the town just won’t let a husband and wife singing duo perform at one of the outdoor concerts. Reading between the lines, they believe they’re just not good enough yet. Simon Cowell, where are you?
There’s much more to read and enjoy. So pick up your local Reporter newspaper on your doorstep or at the grocery store this weekend, or return to www.hudsonreporter.com on Sunday to read all the editions in one place.
