Joe Garcia, Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano’s newly hired chief of staff, handed
the mayor and state Fiscal Monitor Judy Tripodi his resignation Tuesday.
He said he was “proud to be one of the young professionals” who lined up behind the young mayor, and had previously hoped that the group would “finally be able to tackle the problems of Hoboken,” but in light of recent events, “I no longer believe this is possible.”
Garcia is a Hoboken resident and son of police Captain Edelmiro Garcia. According to a close source, the chief of staff took at least a 50 percent pay cut when he left his job at a Manhattan law firm to come work for Cammarano and the city for $125,000 per year.
