Dear Editor:
Does anyone recall the movie “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” when Burl Ives says to Paul Newman, “can you smell the scent of mendacity (lies) in the room?”
At the last Council meeting the aroma of mendacity (lies) coated the Council Chamber when the Mayor and Town Administrator stated the Hudson County Prosecutor recommended we do not hire an independent auditor for another 30 days to investigate the irregularities in the tax office.
The next day Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio denied he made such a request.
It seems this administration has a mendacity problem as well as a tax problem.
