SCOTT, ULYSSES L.

A funeral service took place July 18 for Ulysses L. Scott, 70. He passed away July 12. He was born in Eastover, S.C. Ulysses, affectionately called “Scotty”, spent many days as a barber in Jersey City. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as the associate pastor and faithfully taught Bible Study on Wednesday mornings. He looked forward to Sunday morning services, especially Sunday school. Scotty was very fond of his church, family and church family. He was a loving husband and father, and he loved his grandchildren. Scotty has touched the lives of many, especially those who came to his shop regularly. He served seven years in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Mintz Scott; three children, Lavetta Scott (Maynard) Ross, of Neptune, Marty (Danielle) Scott, of San Antonio, Texas, and Felicia Scott Johnson, of District Heights, Md; grandchildren Jeremy, Alexis, Samar, Mariah, LeAnna, Jahonna, Farryn, and Frederick; two sisters, Rachel Scott Clarkson, Hopkins, S.C. and Myrtle Scott Mathis, Columbia, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Gardenia Scott, Holley Scott, Eula Mintz Swann, Carrie Mintz Graves, Mary Mintz (Charles) Ennon; brother-in-law, Benjamin Mintz; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives, friends and clients. Services arranged by the Childs Funeral Home, Red Bank.
