Jersey City Police Det. Marc DiNardo passed away this morning at Jersey City Medical Center after being taken off life support around 9:30 a.m.
DiNardo, 37, was one of five officers injured in last Thursday’s early-morning shootout on River Street that left two robbery suspects dead.
DiNardo’s heroism and service to the department were praised in a press conference Monday afternoon (see story below). He leaves behind a wife and three children under 5.
DiNardo’s organs will be donated.
