PRCC flag raising was a proud moment

Dear Editor:
On Saturday, June 20, 2009, the Hoboken Puerto Rican Culture Committee celebrated the 43rd Annual Flag raising ceremony at City Hall. It was a great honor to see the ceremony filled to capacity to celebrate such a momentous occasion. This event took a lot of work and effort from a countless number of our dedicated members.
The ceremony was dedicated to Ms. Magali Galarza, an entrepreneur and small business owner who has owned and operated an entertainment club in Hoboken which has been a local favorite since 1982. The committee also announced four winners of its annual scholarship awards to graduating Hoboken High School Seniors. Joseph Castaing, Jessica Lopez, Virgen Negron and Rafferty Rodriguez were selected to receive awards of $1,000 each.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the diverse Hoboken community that has supported the PRCC for many years. Without your passion and dedication to making Hoboken a great city, such an event could not be possible. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to all the members of the Puerto Rican Culture Committee, who went beyond the call of duty to prepare for the flag raising ceremony and the annual Senior Lunch at the Multi Service Center.
I would also like to extend my thanks to the elected officials who took the time out to be present and acknowledge the contribution of the Puerto Rican community in Hoboken; Assemblyman Ruben Ramos, Freeholder Anthony Romano, Mayor-Elect Peter Cammarano, Council Member Nino Giacci, Terry Castellano, Beth Mason, and Dawn Zimmer, Councilwoman Elect Carol Marsh, School Board Members Carmelo Garcia, Jimmy Farina, and Ruth McAllister.
I would like to thank the entire Hoboken community, and extend an invitation to our 4th Annual Awards Banquet at the Fiesta, 255 Route 17 South, Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, 07075 on November 20, 2009. Visit our website (www.hobokenprcc.com) for more information.

Sincerely,
Raul Morales
President of the Hoboken Puerto Rican Culture Committee
