West New York mayoral hopeful Dr. Felix Roque announced Thursday that his petition to recall Mayor Silverio “Sal” Vega had been approved on June 29. He and his team will start collecting signatures to move forward with the recall process on July 6.
Roque’s announcement Thursday was followed by a protest march that started at his campaign offices, located at 214 60th St. The march continued toward City Hall, where supporters chanted “Recall Vega, recall Vega!”
Vega was not available for comment and it is suspected that he was not at City Hall during the protest because he was seen in a moving vehicle while the protesters were returning to Roque’s campaign offices.
As Vega’s vehicle drove away, a Roque supporter yelled at the mayor in Spanish: “Oh, what you missed!”
