Local officials to be sworn in on Wednesday

Hello! Any of you out there, or did you all leave for the weekend already? If you’re around on Wednesday, new council people will be sworn in in Hoboken and Jersey City, a new mayor (Peter Cammarano) will be sworn in in Hoboken, and Mayor Jerramiah Healy in JC will start a new term.
Councilman Elect Ravi Bhalla of Hoboken sent out these details about the mile-square city’s ceremony and council meeting:

“Tomorrow, the Change that Works Slate of David Mello, Carol Marsh and I will officially be sworn in as Council Members of the Hoboken City Council. I am proud to say that through the leadership of Councilwoman Dawn Zimmer, the hard work of our campaign staff, and sacrifice of our many volunteers, we will enjoy a majority on the City Council and are on our way to real change in Hoboken!
I am writing to invite and encourage you to attend our swearing in ceremony, the City Council reorganizational meeting, as well as an evening celebration that Dave, Carol and I are hosting at the Green Rock from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow.
Here are the details!

Inaugural Ceremonies & Swearing In:

The inaugural ceremonies and swearing in of the new Mayor and new Council members will take place at 12 noon at the Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. Athletic and Recreation Center. The Schaefer Center is located adjacent to the Debaun Field, which is the large athletic field at Stevens, between 7th Street and 8th Street.
I have been advised by the City Clerk’s office that all members of the public are welcome to attend this event. However, due to a seating capacity of 800, it is advised that you arrive as early as possible to 12 noon to ensure you will be permitted entry.

1st Hoboken City Council Meeting:

Directly after the inaugural ceremonies and swearing in, the Hoboken City Council will have its first meeting of the year, at 2 p.m. at the Debaun Auditorium, located at 5th Street between Hudson Street and River Street. A number of items are on the agenda, which is available on line at www.hobokennj.org

Celebration at the Green Rock!:

For all of those who cannot attend the events during the afternoon, we are hosting an after work event at the Green Rock, from 6pm to 8pm. The Green Rock is located right outside the PATH station, at the corner of Hudson Street and Hudson Place. This is a great chance to meet your new and existing council members, and celebrate the progress we have made this past year.
