To the Editor:
I would like to say I am a disappointed Bayonne resident and a disappointed Tony Chiappone supporter. Tony always said he was for the people of the city of Bayonne, but now we see his true colors. When Joe Doria was mayor, he wanted Tony out of office. Mark Smith got him out just by saying, “Tony, I’ll get you on the county line for re-election for the assembly seat of the 31st District.”
If Tony was for the people of Bayonne like he said in his campaign, why is he kissing up to Mark Smith, who also wanted Tony out of office since he took office? I wouldn’t be surprised if a county job pops up for someone in Tony’s family.
If Tony could turn his back on the residents of Bayonne, what makes you think he wouldn’t turn his back on the whole 31st District? Now the history books have to change and finally say that Benedict Arnold had a brother and his name is Tony Chiappone.
