A letter from Frank Orsini:
Dear Hoboken:
I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me for Mayor and voted Independent in the past May 12 election.
Hoboken now has a runoff election. Even though my campaign is over, I must stay true to the convictions that started my journey and now support the candidate I believe is best suited to be Mayor of Hoboken.
As I contemplate my decision, I must thoroughly reflect on the character and content of the Candidates and Campaigns of Councilwoman Dawn Zimmer and Councilman Peter Cammarano.
Councilwoman Dawn Zimmer has presented herself with a solid grasp of the issues relating to all Hoboken, as well as sincerity to work with people to solve our problems. She will listen. This is desperately needed in a City Hall that is severely divided. On issues, Dawn Zimmer is will reduce our budget and our tax burden (www.zimmerforchange.com). She will do it without putting our city at risk. She is the only Mayoral Candidate speaking about recreational facilities and our quality of life with real solutions for singles, families and seniors. Dawn Zimmer believes in moving forward with energy efficiency and Green Technologies to bring jobs to Hoboken, lower our costs and lower taxes. Above all, her volunteers and workers always presented themselves with integrity and kindness – which is the reflection of a good leader. Please visit her website for more information.
Councilman Cammarano also has grasp of the issues; however, after 4 years on council, he has hung his candidacy for Mayor on ONE vote – a vote he lost. After three days of rain in May, his campaign sent out an e-mail saying that once he’s Mayor, he will develop a plan on flooding. That is 4 years too late. I did not hear anything from Councilman Cammarano in the debates regarding recreational/entertainment facilities for youth to seniors. I did not hear anything on reducing our costs thru Green Technologies. In regard to his campaign workers: my volunteers, my brother and even my girlfriend were harassed and intimidated – even after Councilman Cammarano was told about it and apologized for it.
Councilwoman Dawn Zimmer to be best suited for Mayor and I endorse and encourage everyone to vote Dawn Zimmer – and her slate of David Mello, Carol Marsh, Ravi Bhalla – on June 9. More importantly, tell a friend and make sure they vote for Dawn Zimmer and her Slate. We MUST complete our conviction and get out the Vote. City Hall must know Hoboken citizens will keep our elected officials accountable.
Dawn Zimmer is the break from the Establishment and represents the New Leadership Peter Cammarano only dreams about in his commercials and mailings. She will bring the balance needed to break from backroom politics and the Machines of today. Dawn Zimmer and her slate represent the rebirth of Hoboken and a City Hall that reaches out to all its citizens.
