Dear Editor:
Last month voters gave me the honor of representing them on the Jersey City School Board and for that I am forever grateful. However, I am writing today in support of another candidate who is poised to do great things for our community: Nidia R. Lopez, Jersey City Ward C Council on line 9C. Nidia Lopez is a born leader. In addition to her excellent work as the elected Democratic Committeewomen from District 27 in Ward C, to her role as Treasurer/Elder of the New Hope Presbyterian Church, Nidia has shown a genuine commitment to her community. However, nowhere else is this commitment emphasized than with her founding/chairing of WAARFA (Women Acknowledged and Recognized for Achievement) – an act that epitomizes the kind of selfless individual she truly is. It is Nidia’s deep roots in Jersey City that make her such an asset to the people she hopes to represent. Nidia was educated in Jersey City and she has raised her beautiful family in Jersey City, with her own children raising their own kids here. With the Board of Education returning to local control for the first time since the 1980s, it is critical that we have a council that understands the importance of education. Nidia has seen the overcrowding at our schools and knows that it is time for a change. If elected she will be a positive voice in leading for the change our schools so desperately need. Nidia Lopez is a woman who I respect and admire with the utmost integrity. I know that given the opportunity she will be a terrific representative of not only Ward C, but for Jersey City as a whole. Please join me in supporting Nidia Lopez on ballot position 9C, Mayor Jerramiah Healy on 7A and the rest of Team Healy on May 12th as we work together to deliver Change We Can See!
Sincerely,
Sean Connors
School Board Member
