A funeral mass was offered May 8 at Our Lady of Mercy Church for Victoria Beckner, 14. She lost her brave battle with cancer on May 4 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York City. She graduated from Our Lady of Mercy School, Jersey City, in June of 2008, and had been accepted to McNair Academic. She was an honor student and a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She won the OLM slogan contest “Our pride is as big as our bark.” She enjoyed being involved in OLM on the Move. Victoria was the happiest when she was playing basketball for OLM and softball for College Little League. She will truly be missed by all who loved her, especially her sister, Sarah. She was the daughter of Jeanne (Piscopo) and James Beckner; the sister of Sarah; the granddaughter of Dominick Piscopo and the late Julia Krall Piscopo and the late Anthony and Helen Kashuba Beckner.
