Financial meltdown of cities around nation

Dear Editor:

The financial meltdown of cities around the nations is apparent. It seems urbania is unstable. With municipal woes in America, no one city is alone. Just look at New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Phoenix and Philly. Regarding the misery index which reflects jobless rates for cities in Metro Areas, Jersey City isn’t even mentioned. That’s because the incumbent Mayor has been creating jobs and rebuilding the middle class. Not bad for such a large and populated place. Bottom line is, we are in a recession and it’s because of 8 years of non-regulation. The financial services industry has been a disservice to America partly because of risky, greedy, unregulated hedge fund mongers and banks associated with them. It’s the result of George Bush. U.S. regulatory failures have created a financial crisis. They were giving out boat loads of money to states like Oregon and Montana.
Thank goodness the Mayor of Jersey City has a friend now in President Barack Obama. It is no surprise to see that the Jersey City school district will take in nearly half of the $52 million heading to Hudson County with a whopping $23.3 million. It is also no surprise to see a N.J. state police helicopter hovering over Jersey City during a crack down on violence and drugs producing 50 arrests by J.C. P.D., working with a large task force of County, State and yes Federal Law Enforcement. Four scoops per minute equals one every fifteen seconds. That’s pretty good too. A friend in the White House has already born fruit. It is now that money and resources will go Jersey City’s way and be utilized for the things constituents need and care about. To not vote for the incumbent Mayor would be brainless. A great relationship with leaders from the Democratic National Party and President Obama is what it takes to produce positive change. Being in agreement with the entire City Council is what it takes to get it done on the local level.

The global economic recession has created challenges and we have recently suffered from the past mistakes of elephants. George W got us into this mess and people shouldn’t forget it. Minds must work together with the incumbent Mayor of Jersey City to move forward. Fighting with the Governor and others has a negative impact on City government. Getting along with them has a positive impact on City government; and the Mayor gets along with people. This is not about personality or character. It’s about courage. What Jersey City has now is the best relationship between a Mayor and U.S. President since the FDR days. Jersey City, thanks to the incumbent Mayor, now has the power to get money and continue to fix what needs to be fixed. It is time to realize that nice guys don’t always finish last.
