On Monday at 1 p.m., U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez is scheduled to make an “important announcement” regarding Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy and the entire Healy Team of City Council candidates. The announcement will take place at One Journal Square, the site of an impending $500 million two-tower project that is intended to revitalize Journal Square.
No details were given on what the announcement will exactly be about, but it’s happening eight days before the municipal election, so one could only assume it is an endorsement.
Menendez’s “important announcement” would be one of several such announcements in recent weeks given by the likes of Newark Mayor Cory Booker, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and State Senator Sandra Cunningham. – Ricardo Kaulessar
