Minutillo makes the case for electing Kids First

Dear Friends and Neighbors:
I am running for re-election to the Board of Education to continue to work hard to fulfill the promises I made to the community three years ago: to focus on the students and teachers, create a culture of accountability and transparency and to lower costs. It has been an interesting three years, full of great hope and some disappointments. On Tuesday, with your support, Kids First will be able to begin the work necessary to move the Hoboken School District forward to take its rightful place among the top school districts in New Jersey.
We were excited last year to work with the Superintendent to put aside money for program enhancement. Unfortunately for the students, the current majority left this money unspent. In our effort to provide transparency and accountability, we urged all contracts to require proper bids and voted no on all no-bid contracts, unlike other board members.
Unfortunately, those of us who want to change the status quo have always been in the minority. For the last year far too often—the votes have been 6-3. Honestly, being in the minority is frustrating, but Kids First will never give up on the children of Hoboken. They deserve the Board’s full attention.
Rose Marie Markle, Carrie Gilliard and I need your help this Tuesday. Electing Maureen Sullivan and Ruth McAllister and reelecting me will bring true leadership to the Board of Education – a real opportunity to put Kids First! Together with Rose and Carrie, Kids First will have the five votes necessary to move the District forward in a positive, respectful, fair and equal manner. These five votes can make our schools the pride of New Jersey!
We ask that you vote all three members of Kids First onto the Board of Education. The polls are open between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. This Tuesday, elect the majority that puts Kids First!

Yours truly,
Theresa Minutillo
