Funeral services were held April 14 for Kenneth E. Higginson, 60, of Hazlet. He died April 9 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, he lived in San Diego, Union City, and Weehawken before moving to Hazlet three years ago. He was a security officer with the U.S. Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1990. He also worked for Chrysler Financial, and Opici Wine, as a credit representative. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, an Eagle Scout, and a member of VFW Post 1923, American Legion Post 1000, the Tin Can Sailors Club, the San Diego Touring Society, and the USS America Carrier Veterans Association. He was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Alice Higginson, and his son, Richard. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Marie (Bolger) Higginson; his children, Garrett Higginson and Daniel Boudreau; his stepchildren, Cheryl Pierce and Kevin Foley; his grandchildren, Hunter and Weston Higginson; his brother, Timothy Higginson, and sister, Bunny Onorato.
