If you are planning to take the Holland Tunnel from NYC to New Jersey in the wee hours of the weekends, you might want to read the following information from the Port Authority:
The New Jersey-bound Holland Tunnel will be closed Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 8 a.m. beginning April 18 until the scheduled project completion in fall. The repaving of the New York-bound south tube was completed in December 2008.
During the work, all New Jersey-bound traffic will be diverted to the Lincoln Tunnel.
The approach roadways will be repaved Mondays through Fridays during the off-peak hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Work will be suspended on holidays and also may be canceled in the event of unfavorable weather conditions.
This work completes the $5.5 million capital improvement project to repave the north and south tubes, including approach ramps, and the replacement of cross drains, to keep the Holland Tunnel in a state of good repair.
