Dear Editor:
As a mom who volunteers on the parent committee in the Hopes/HeadStart Program, among other things, I am responsible for fund raising.
On Thursday, March 19th, we held our Annual Art Auction. I expected that securing donations would be difficult as a result of the current economic climate. However, I found the opposite to be true. The local businesses generously reached into their pockets and helped us to surpass previous fund raising amounts by over 100 percent. This effort proved the strength of our community and the belief in the promise of our children.
Our top supporters included Red Bridge Buildings; 10th & Willow Bar & Grille; Liberty Realty; Fleet Feet; Carlo’s Bakery; Spa H; JLoren Photography; Right Angle Framing; Ace Hardware; Urban Kitchen; The Little Gym and Botanical Designs. These organizations felt strongly enough about this community to invest in it. If we all begin to think this way, Hoboken will be an even better place to live and raise our families.
Get out there and support your local businesses; there are many that care about you!
