A public thank you to a private citizen

Dear Editor:
On Monday evening, March 2, Maxwell’s hosted an art exhibit and sale (through April 10) to
benefit the Hoboken Public School’s Rockin’ Redwings Band. The band was invited to play at the opening reception and even though it turned out to be a snow day and schools were closed, the kids came with their instruments and played a short program. The band not only displayed their fine musicianship but proved they were budding professionals by reminding everyone that “the show must go on” is not just an old cliché.
I am also writing this letter to express thanks and give due recognition to digital artist Christian Stillwagon whose creative mind, generous heart and fabulous art made this fundraiser possible.
Christian lives in Hoboken, works in Hoboken, has no political aspirations, nor is he a parent with a child in the school system. He’s a private citizen and an artist with a vision, and his desire to make a difference should be an inspiration to us all. I would also like to thank the teachers and staff of the music program for their tireless work and dedication, all the parents and the community for their support in helping the Rockin’ Redwings rock on!!!

Sincerely,
Jackie Post, Maxwell’s
