Although it didn’t happen in Hudson County or even New Jersey, this Saturday marks the 30th anniversary of the Three Mile Island partial nuclear meltdown near Harrisburg, Pa. It affected this area in that people were unsure whether they’d have to eventually evacuate if the fallout spread, and what the overall result would be if the power plant melted down. A worried nation watched the news each night, waiting to hear what would happen.
