To all residents of Hudson County:
Please be advised that our office has been notified of an offer being circulated among senior residents and others concerning an opportunity to register for a “Secondary Stimulus Check.” The inference is introduced that this check of $7,000 is being issued by the United States Department of Treasury.
The offer shows what appears to be an official United States Government check issued in large amounts of funds. The person is asked to contact a toll free number, (877) 299-5126, and the caller is then advised that for the price of $49.95, they can purchase a home foreclosure kit, which will enable them to purchase foreclosed property at an extremely low price, thereby allegedly giving them the opportunity to earn large amounts of money.
It is to be noted that this is not an offer for a secondary stimulus check as the written advertisement states.
Any resident receiving this offer should in fact contact the New Jersey Division of Consumer at (800) 242-5846 or email AskConsumerAffairs@lps.state.nj.us. As your Sheriff, our office is ever vigilant concerning possible fraudulent scam circumstances that will affect the well being of the residents of Hudson County. Please pass this information to all within your homes, places of employment, friends and neighbors.
