Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy gave his third State of the City address on Wednesday in the City Council Chambers in Jersey City’s City Hall.
Healy highlighted his administration’s successes in the past year, and outlined his vision for the future of the city as he touched upon a gamut of issues ranging from hiring more police — a mainstay in every Healy speech since he was elected in November 2004 – to new goals such as making Jersey City “greener.”
And that he did for nearly 40 minutes in front of state, county and local elected officials as well as some municipal employees. It can be considered another campaign speech as he is currently running for reelection in the May 12 municipal election.
“Notwithstanding the significant difficulties that confront us and the upcoming challenges that we face, I am pleased to report to you that the State of our City is strong and continues to be a beacon in these difficult economic times,” said Healy.
