Attention meat-eaters (and wine drinkers, and cheese lovers)…

The steakhouse in the new Hoboken “W” Hotel on the waterfront says they’re opening next month. The company is actually affiliated with Michael Jordan, too. Here’s their release from today:
“ZYLO, a vibrant new Tuscan steakhouse located at W Hoboken, is set to open its doors in March, 2009. Complementing the storied history that is Hoboken, where Marlon Brando shot his classic film ‘On the Waterfront’ and home to Frank Sinatra, ZYLO combines the flavors of a modern steakhouse with the simple, indulgent flavors of the classic Italian kitchen. The restaurant is situated in a vibrant and friendly neighborhood filled with beautiful brownstones, galleries, boutiques and shops. With unparalleled waterfront views of Manhattan and the Hudson River, outfitted with a sunny 50-seat outdoor patio, ZYLO keeps in tune with the exposed energy of the City.
“ ‘Bringing ZYLO to Hoboken was a natural fit for us given our longstanding relationship with the W20Hotel brand,’ says David Zadikoff, CEO of Cornerstone Restaurant Group, operator of ZYLO. ‘And we are thrilled to open our doors in a neighborhood so deeply rooted in Italian culinary traditions.’
“ZYLO’s menu, created by Chef Nicholas Ciccone [Fifth Floor, Asia de Cuba, Soho Grand], features traditional Italian fare alongside enticing bone-in cuts of prime, organic and grass-fed beef. Ciccone, a New Jersey native, will create an abundance of handmade pastas, made-to-order pizzas, classic salads, fresh selections of seafood and inventive sides, showcasing the wealth of New Jersey’s bountiful produce. ‘Being back home has renewed my love of the Italian flavors that I grew up on. It’s exciting to take my culinary roots and pair them with the innovative style of a modern steakhouse,’ says Ciccone.
“ZYLO’s expansive bar and lounge features an on-site salumeria and artisanal cheese bar and boasts an Italian-driven wine list and signature cocktails utilizing fresh ingredients, juices and spirits.
Designed by the acclaimed Bentel & Bentel Architects [Craftsteak, The Modern, and Gramercy Tavern], ZYLO’s 50-seat dining room features accents of blackened steel, nautical bronze and basalt planks recalling the shipbuilding heritage of Hoboken. A wall of bristled broomheads stacked like bricks hints at the old shop-cultu re while modern injections of red leather, back-lit glass walls and colorful artwork create contemporary takes on old Hoboken.
“ZYLO is operated by Cornerstone Management and Jump Higher, L.L.C. Led by restaurateurs Jonathan Albert and David Zadikoff, in collaboration with Michael Jordan, Cornerstone oversees all Michael Jordan-brand restaurants including one sixtyblue, Chicago, and Michael Jordan’s Steak House, Michael Jordan’s 23.sportcafe and SolToro Tequila Grill at Mohegan Sun; Uncasville, CT.; WAVE in the W Chicago–Lakeshore, ristorante we in the W Chicago–City Center Chicago, and solea in the W Mexico City.”
