Jersey City remembers Abe Lincoln

The Lincoln Association of Jersey City, established in 1865 and considered the oldest association in the United States dedicated to honoring Abraham Lincoln, held on Thursday (Lincoln’s birthday) its annual wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln Park. The association also held its annual dinner Thursday night at Casino-in-the-Park in Jersey City.
Among the speakers were Mayor Jerramiah Healy, Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, and Dr. Jules Ladenheim, former president of the Lincoln Association, who did his rendition of Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address. – Ricardo Kaulessar
