Dear Editor:
Secaucus lost one of its al time great citizens with the recent passing of Frank MacCormack, Sr., he was a relentless advocate for the town he loved and never stopped thinking of ways to improve it. He enjoyed everyone he met and was always the first person to help but the last one to take credit or jump in front of a camera.
I already miss our weekly phone calls when we would discuss everything from health care to hockey. He was passionate for the ideals he believed in, but he always respected other points of view. If you disagreed with him he didn’t take it personally. He tried to understand your position and maybe learn something he didn’t know before. The great majority of the time I was doing the learning.
Frank was always looking forward to the next challenge, but the next Giants game, the next spring planting, the next election. He was an astute businessman, a class act, always a gentleman who never had an ax to grind, a nasty word on his lips, or revenge in his heart. He always told the truth, never promising one thing and doing another. Hew was genuine, never a phony.
People make a community and outstanding people are what make a community outstanding. Over the years Secaucus became an outstanding community because of people like Frank MacCormack, Sr.
