The Hoboken St. Pat’s Parade is both fun and controversial. The mile-square city holds the event earlier than other towns each year so that they don’t have to compete for the best bands and participants. That also makes Hoboken a party destination for young people on that day, with bars opening early and revelers filling the streets. Last year, to keep order, police doled out fines of up to $1,000 for alcohol-related offenses.
Controversy aside, the proud long-time celebration of Irish culture will kick off this year on Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m., marching down Washington Street.
The fundraising party will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church on Sunday, Feb. 22. And the annual mass will be held at 5:30 at OLG on Saturday, Feb. 28.
Show your Irish pride!
