Services for Michael Caviano, 58, of Hoboken, were held Nov. 29 at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington, N.J. He died Nov. 22 in his home in Hoboken. Born in Little Italy in New York City, he moved to Jersey City 18 years ago, then to Hoboken less than a year ago. Caviano worked with the Social Security Administration as a hearing office director at the Newark office of Hearings and Appeals before retiring in 2004. Survivors inlcude his wife, Dolores Poe Caviano; daughter, Melanie Palmer, and her husband Mark; two step daughters Deirdre Sanders, and her husband Fred, and Kirsten Hill; and her husband Lawrence; his two brothers, Frank, and his wife Betty, and Paul, and his wife Sylvia; sister, Antonia La Spina, and her husband Ben; grandson, Liam Palmer; and his three step grandchildren, Evan and Eliza Sanders and Parker Hill.
