CORCORAN, THOMAS FRANCIS

CORCORAN, THOMAS FRANCIS. Mass for Thomas Francis Corcoran, 72, of Jersey City, was held Nov. 10 at St. John the Baptist Church, Jersey City. He died Nov. 4 at Bayonne Medical Center. A native of Brooklyn, Corcoran was a retired chief of criminal investigations in the New Jersey State Office of the Public Defender. Long active in Jersey City politics, Corcoran was a former ward leader in both Wards C and D, and ran as a Republican candidate for the Assembly in 1999. Corcoran was a former director of Parking Enforcement for the Jersey City Parking Authority, a past vice president of the New Jersey State Public Defenders Association, a trustee of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Brigantine Chapter, and vice president of Brigantine Beach Club. He was a longtime coach of St. John the Baptist basketball and baseball teams and of the Pershing Field Little League. Survivors include his wife, Maureen Margaret (Cope); a daughter, Kelly Mary Mangieri, and her husband Joseph; a son, Thomas Edward Corcoran, and his wife Pamela; a sister, Catherine Stewart; and four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Rachel, Claudia and Juliana.
