Dear Editor:
While I appreciate that the Pershing Road Stairs have finally opened (even if the bridge to the Ferry Terminal has yet to be completed,) I don’t quite see them as the feat of engineering that Mayor Turner does. Functional, yes, but in 1891, George Eiffel designed and built an elevator to carry Weehawken residents to and from the waterfront. Now, that qualifies as an engineering feat! Over a 100 years later, I’ve got to wonder – where is our elevator?
