Welcome back! Weehawken kids go back to school Sept. 3

Kids around Weehawken are jumping with excitement for the start of the new school year! Last Wednesday, Sept. 3, the halls of Daniel Webster School, Theodore Roosevelt School and Weehawken High School were opened once again and buzzing with student activity.

“[My first day] was wonderful,” said Peyton Kennedy, 10, fifth grade at Roosevelt School. “I love my teacher Ms. Barrone and we’re already getting to know her.”

Third grade classmates at Roosevelt School Yazid Rivero and Conner Cabrera talked about their day as they waited for the bus after school.

“It was fun and there was lots of great stuff,” said Yazid, 8. “We had library today and were talking about fun stuff.”

“At the beginning I took a tour of the school and then the principal came to talk to us about school rules,” said Conner, 8.

Excitement also continued at Weehawken High School, where the students were glad to be back among their friends and classmates.

“I’m looking forward to learning math and increasing my ability in English, and planning to change myself,” said Jamie Pierre, 15, sophomore. “I had a great day. The teachers are nice and it’s good to see old friends and familiar faces again.”

Good luck in the new school year, Weehawken!
